Greetings to all ISSA Members
and interested shooters,
As the time draws closer for our 26th annual international matches, the cost of fuel looks to make Summer travel more expensive. Perhaps this can work to provide a little more incentive for us to team up with or recruit other shooters with whom to share travel costs.
A new event for this year is a 20 shot off hand match for original German Schuetzen rifles. If you have one of these, this is an excellent reason to dust it off and put it to the use for which it was intended. In keeping with the original tradition, this will be with iron sights and no palm rests.
For those who might have need of such, both Paul Jones and NEI make molds for traditional style German "stop ring" bullets for 8.15 x 46R rifles. Many of these rifles are missing the rear sights. The one source we have found for reproduction sights is Ron Heilman who resides in Washington state:
e-mail r.a.heilman@worldnet.att.net, phone 253-840-2623. Mr Heilman describes himself as a "hobby sight maker" but his work is first rate and professional.
Sign up for this match, which is planned for Tuesday afternoon with a $10.00 entry fee, can be done at the Schuetzenfest. To facilitate sharing of rifles and allow more people to participate, there will be two relays.
A reminder that there will be a drawing for $100.00 from all entries postmarked before July 1st and a late fee for entries postmarked after July 15th. So get your entry sent in ASAP.
